Nigerian fast-rising stars, Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems, and Stanley Omah Didia popularly known as Omah Lay who were arrested by the members of the Katwe police in Uganda after a show on Sunday, 13th of December 2020 have been charged to court.

Tems with her manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, and Omah Lay have been in the Ugandan police custody for almost 24 hours and have been transferred to different prison locations to be detained till their scheduled court date on Wednesday, 16th of December 2020.

Uproar ensued on the streets of Twitter following a woman’s narration on the platform, claiming that singer and activist, Seun Kuti fired his gun at a party in his residence at Ikeja on the 12th of December.

Seun Kuti himself has since come out to share his side of the story and explain what led to the altercation via an Instagram live

According to Seun Kuti, trouble broke out after movement in and out of his house was impeded by party goers who were in attendance of a party organised by a non-resident who owns businesses in the area.

MTV MAMA Awards unveiled the nomination list for 2021 and Nigerian music heavyweights such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Simi, Rema, Niniola plus newbies, Fireboy DML, Omah Lay and Tems were nominated.

The 2021 MTV MAMA Awards nomination list was unveiled on the 8th of December 2020 via social media and the Award ceremony is scheduled to hold in Kampala, Uganda on the 20th of February 2021 in a virtual set up that will be broadcasted live on MTV Base.
