Photography is used by amateurs to preserve memories of favorite times, to capture special moments, to tell stories, to send messages, and as a source of entertainment. Marc de Montebello Fine Art, Inc., New York. Arshile Gorky: Late Drawings. 9 March – 15 April 1994. Catalogue. The five songs selected by the subject were “The First Time” by Simpson & Jackson, “Collision of Worlds” by Williams, “The Distance” by Hot Chelle Rae, “The Rainbow Connection” by Ascher & Williams, and “The Man on the Left” by Metivier. It is interesting to note that several of the songs originally considered for inclusion in the current list were discovered in the previous project and had been listened to regularly during the intervening time. Since the previous project the subject has collected a variety of other popular songs using his MP3 player, began regularly listening to music on various styles of radio stations, and reported conversations about music with peers. In examining the written paragraphs the subject was much more easily able to identify the point of view of the father character and had difficulty understanding why the son had to work so hard to connect with his father since “the father is the one who is autistic, so it should be easier for the son to understand what to do”. Thomas Nozkowski, An Autobiography (exhibition catalogue). High Falls, New York: Cedar Hill Press, 1995. Will Barnet is a giant in the history of 20th Century American Art. He was widely associated with the most prominent figures in painting spanning several generations and movements, from Stuart Davis and Yasuo Kuniyoshi, to James Rosenquist and Cy Twombly. Entwining figurative and abstract elements with personal and universal themes, Barnet’s practice charts an extraordinary progression through 20th Century American painting. Will Barnet: Family Homage features 29 rarely exhibited paintings drawn from the artist’s most personal body of work, those retained by his family and a foundation created in his name. The exhibition is organized by the Ogunquit Museum of American Art in collaboration with the Barnet Foundation.
