Art buyers and collectors have many ways to acquire contemporary works of art, especially by living artists. Through media work, art provides the opportunity for physical as well as mental activity. Studio work provides relief from academic pursuits in art and in other subject areas. Since the creation of art works depend upon the manipulation of materials, the importance of developing specific art skills cannot be overstressed. It is during the period of early adolescence that students must develop studio competence. American Abstract expressionist painter Franz Kline was born on May 23rd 1910 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. A photographic series by Parisian photo journalist Aida Tawil documenting the color of Mozambique with its colonial history and current laid-back pace. As a photojournalist, Ms. Tawil travels to distant places, speaks the local languages, and documents daily challenges. Presented are three series of images: Crossing the Zambezi, Pangane, and Ilha de Moçambique. The focus of the first series is the Zambezi River, which runs 3,540 Km and empties into the Indian Ocean. The second series documents the fishermen village of Pangane, a remote village at the Northern edge of the country on the Indian Ocean. Urry means plenty of different things – but above all else, it indicates an affinity for cartoon creatures and other anthropomorphic animals. Results indicated that participants identified significantly more target motifs under condition four —listening with both visual and kinesthetic prompts. There were no significant differences between the number of motifs correctly identified under conditions one, two, and three—listening only, listening with visual prompts, listening with kinesthetic prompts. Participants with moderate hearing losses identified significantly more motifs correctly than did participants with severe hearing losses, although both groups of participants identified more motifs correctly using additional sensory input. These findings indicate that students who deaf and hard-of-hearing do benefit from the multimedia presentations of new information. Results corroborate frequent pedagogical suggestions found in the literature that utilizing a multi-sensory approach is beneficial for many students with hearing losses.
